มหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวรโดยการขับเคลื่อนของศาสตราจารย์พิเศษ ดร.กาญจนา เงารังษี เล็งเห็นถึงความสำคัญของเป้าหมายการพัฒนาเพื่อความยั่งยืนขององค์กรสหประชาชาติ และนโยบาย Thailand 4.0 จึงมุ่งเน้นพัฒนาหลักสูตรใหม่ให้มีความทันสมัยและมีความเป็นสากล โดยสนับสนุนให้มีการพัฒนาหลักสูตรนานาชาติ MA/PhD in Social and Sustainable Development (SSD) ที่เป็นหลักสูตรแบบ Joint-Degree ร่วมกับ Newcastle University ในสหราชอาณาจักร
มหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวรได้มอบหมายให้คณะสังคมศาสตร์ เป็นผู้แทนเข้าร่วมในโครงการ “UK-Thailand Transnational Education (TNE) Development Project Year 2: Gearing towards Thailand 4.0 and Sustainable Development” จัดโดย British Council และสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการอุดมศึกษา (สกอ.) ระหว่างวันที่ 27-30 พฤศจิกายน 2560 ณ University of Westminster กรุงลอนดอน สหราชอาณาจักร เพื่อพัฒนาเครือข่ายความร่วมมือทางวิชาการและยกระดับมาตรฐานหลักสูตรระดับบัณฑิตศึกษาของประเทศไทยให้อยู่ในระดับสากล
ผลจากการเข้าร่วมในโครงการดังกล่าว ทำให้คณะสังคมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวร สามารถพัฒนาหลักสูตรนานาชาติ MA/PhD in Social and Sustainable Development (SSD) ร่วมกับ The Postgraduate Certificate in Social Research Training ของ Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Newcastle University โดยได้รับทุนสนับสนุนการพัฒนาหลักสูตรจาก Partnership Development Grant จาก British Council ซึ่งหลักสูตรนี้ จะเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้เรียนได้พัฒนาเครือข่ายด้านการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนและการดำเนินธุรกิจเพื่อสังคม ร่วมกับผู้เรียนทั่วโลกโดยใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ และระบบการเรียนทางไกลแบบใหม่ (Blended Method) โดยหลักสูตรนี้มีแผนจะเปิดรับนิสิตใหม่ในปีการศึกษา 2562 และเป็นหลักสูตรแรกของประเทศไทย ที่บูรณาการนโยบาย Thailand 4.0 เข้ากับการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนซึ่งเป็นทิศทางการพัฒนาที่ UN ได้กำหนดเป็นเป้าหมายสำหรับทุกประเทศทั่วโลกได้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม

“Naresuan University Encourages Thailand 4.0 by Launching a New, Internationally Innovative Social and Sustainable Development Program in Cooperation with UK University”

Under the leadership of Naresuan University President, Honorary Professor Dr. Kanchana Ngourungsi, the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Thailand 4.0 Plan are significantly addressed with new and innovative joint-degree international MA and PhD programs in Social and Sustainable Development with Newcastle University, United Kingdom.
Naresuan University’s representatives from the Faculty of Social Sciences participated in the November 2017 UK – Thailand Transnational Education Forum as part of the “Transnational Education (TNE) Development Project Year 2 : Gearing towards Thailand 4.0 and Sustainable Development ” at the University of Westminster, London.
After competitive application, the Naresuan University’s Faculty of Social Sciences was awarded a Partnership Development Grant from the British Council. The grant supports academic workshops for new academic programs in collaboration with the Doctoral Research Centre, Newcastle University. These innovative programs offer high quality research networks in Social and Sustainable Development, and Social Enterprise by using a new ‘blended method’ introduced by Newcastle University.
Naresuan MA and PhD programs are among the first international programs in Thailand to integrate the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Thailand 4.0 and have been closely developed with our Newcastle University partners to be ready for the first group of talented students in 2019.
